In today’s Christianity many churches are providing “milk” to an adult audience and church members are not experiencing the spiritual growth expected after being in the church for decades. My family attended a church in Southern California for a few years after my husband became converted and our biggest challenge each Sabbath was to stay awake in church. Each Friday, we stocked up on quiet snacks we could eat to keep us awake. Eventually, we had enough and decided we needed spiritual food fitting for growing Christians (we were no longer spiritual kindergarteners). We went to another church and quickly outgrew that church too. We love to study the Bible with our adult children and just by ourselves. It is so refreshing when we discuss topics in the Bible and during the discussion you become enlightened and gain new understanding that helps you to have a better understanding of Yahweh’s plan, His attributes and His righteousness. This gives me a new zeal and energy to share with others what we uncovered during our study.
We have decided to share the topics that have helped us to follow closer after our savior; for these topics tend to be overlooked as unnecessary and are considered outdated by many because certain areas of the Old Testament is glossed over. I feel inspired to tackle topics that people struggle with to provide information to those who are searching for understanding to increase in righteous living. These topics are important because knowledge and understanding of the appointed times, and caring for our children spiritually (regardless of age), help us in our preparation for the end of the age, keep us focused on the signs pointing to the second coming of the Messiah, causes us to grow in the attributes of Christ and gives us a greater appreciation of Yahweh’s salvation plan. Parenting and walking in righteousness as simple as they may seem, are perplexing topics that many struggle with. But with inspiration we can encourage each other in righteous living like Paul encouraged Timothy, “Study to show yourself approved to God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Tim 2:15). We are told that in the last days knowledge shall increase (Daniel 12:4), and as a result many people have more questions surrounding these topics, causing more and more information to be added to the internet by the minute.
Unfortunately, there are preachers like Harold Camping and others who deceived and lead astray thousands of followers because these people followed him blindly, allowing him to do the study and research for them. He was thought to know the appointed time for the end of the world. There are so many other self professed prophets who have predicted the end and led uninformed people astray because they never knew anything about God’s appointed times and God’s calendar.
We are encouraged to dig deep into research and gain understanding of the Kingdom of God. I look forward to seeing more of your comments!
