The purpose of this podcast and of Qumran Family Church is to encourage you in righteous living and to contend for the One True Faith delivered to the First Century Saints by Jesus Christ or Yeshua Hamaschiach, our Lord and Savior. We are unique in that Qumran Family Church is not composed of an edifice in the traditional church sense. Instead, we are utilizing technology and the internet to bring together or encourage the development of a network of Messianic Believers of Messiah. The aim is to share information, provide some insight into what’s going on in our world as it relates to our Faith, and to share with you my journey as a Messianic who is constantly searching for Truth. Borrowing the tenets of the House of Israel as it relates to purpose, we seek to worship the Father as He directs through His Torah, serve as a hub for evangelistic outreach through cyberspace, encourage discipleship of those seeking to follow the true teachings of the Master, share information and resources as a means of equipping the Saints, and ultimately encourage righteous living and being effective witnesses for Yeshua through various teachings and reference materials.

We earnestly invite you to become part of our network of Messianic Believers. If you are a Believer of Yeshua who ascribes to what the Master taught and what is contained in our Bibles, and you abhor or have serious concerns about the denominational influences of our Faith, then you have a home here. We are constantly seeking Yehovah’s direction and we are set to move in whatever direction He give us.

The concept of “it’s not as you perceive” is based upon the concept that what we believe to be true is not always the honest Truth. Sometimes we have to move forward and even past our existing perceptions of life and our faith. Failure to do so will result in our being stuck on a road leading to certain destruction. When our initial perceptions are challenged and ultimately proven to be wrong, not only do we see things in a different light, our faith and abilities are forever changed for the good and we are then able to live life at a higher spiritual level. Reference: DBY John 10:10 The thief comes not but that he may steal, and kill, and destroy: I am come that they might have life, and might have it abundantly. (Joh 10:10 DBY) Sadly, fundamental churchianity has led many to believe that living the abundant life as the Master offered translates into having a life of material wealth. The “health and wealth” and the “name it claim it” mentality of popular Christianity has all but diminished the full meaning of this simple but powerful promise given to us by the Master. Like anyone else, I would love to have more money and the material niceties of life. However, I would like more than anything to have peace of mind, a closer walk with the Father, to present a powerful witness for the Master to those in my circle of influence, to lack fear, to have unquenchable faith, to have a heart to serve, and the like. Having material goods and money seems to always come at a price and these never in themselves makes one truly happy and fulfilled.

I’ve claimed the Christian faith as my religion of choice for more than 40-years. It wasn’t until my understanding of the faith was challenged and put to the test that I realized that I was heading down the wrong road. That challenge required that I step off that precipice that was my institutionalized religious faith and see what would happen. My initial concerns was that I would be devastated by what I found out about my faith and that all the time I dedicated to my faith was for not. But I took the step off that precipice and found that what I perceived to be truth was false. Additionally, I found that I did not fall to my death. Instead, I found freedom in learning the Truth and my life ever since that day in 2005 has never been the same. Truly, I believe with all my heart that I’ve found at least a great portion of the abundant life that the Master spoke of.

Call to Action

If you are seeking that abundant life and you are at a crossroads in your walk with Jesus Christ, step off that precipice in faith and you may indeed find that your perceptions in error. But rest firmly assured that you can have your perceptions corrected and you can be freed from the prison of denominational and institutional religion. You can have that relationship with the Master that you’ve always dreamed of. You can have power beyond any that you’ve imagined for yourself and for the Kingdom. It starts with that simple stepping forward in faith and committing oneself to the Truth, regardless how ugly and unpalatable that may seem to you now. But once you meet Truth, you will never look back.

If you are ready to take that step forward, we are here to help. We have materials we can send you free of charge. We are dedicated to helping you find your way. I had help and I bless the Father for sending me that help. I doubt that I would have made it on my own. I now want to do the same for you.

If you are already on the road to Truth, join us and contribute to this ministry. Let’s turn the world upside down for Messiah. Time is short. We don’t know how much longer media like the internet will be open to this content.

News and Prophecy
A few newsworthy events happened this past week that warrant mentioning and our attention. Of course you probably heard about the typhoon that hit the Philippines last week. The death toll continues to rise and the number dead and those displaced from their homes is expected to reach a million or more. This is a horrible tragedy. What’s worse, there are Believers of Messiah who are caught up in this situation that need not only our prayers, but our financial support as well. If you are in a position to help, I would recommend the following avenues:

arthurbaileyministries.com/tv is committed to helping funnel moneys to those in need. This is a trustworthy organization that will send every penny donated to the Philippines.
http://biblicalhealth.tv/typhoon-haiyan-relief/ is sponsoring a relief drive. This is also a trustworthy organization that is associated with Biblical Health TV and Michael Rood Ministries.

The national tragedy known as ObamaCare or the Affordable Care Act has snagged the attention of most Americans. Millions of Americans have or are in the process of losing their existing health insurance policies under the auspices of the Affordable Care Act. More so, our government, in particular the Executive Branch, finds itself in a terrible political quandary whereby prior promises were made by the president and certain members of Congress regarding the retaining of health insurance policies if certain Americans wished to keep them. Now, as millions realize they no longer have their desired policies, trust in our leaders in Washington is at an all time low. As Believers in Messiah, this is just another sad example and point of truth: we can not nor should we place trust in men. What follows is a few Scriptural passages that drive home this point of trust in Yehovah over men.

  • DBY 2 Samuel 22:3 God is my rock, in him will I trust — My shield, and the horn of my salvation, My high tower, and my refuge, My saviour: thou wilt save me from violence. (2Sa 22:3 DBY)
  • DBY 2 Kings 18:21 Now behold, thou reliest upon the staff of that broken reed, upon Egypt, on which if a man lean, it goes into his hand and pierces it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that rely upon him. (2Ki 18:21 DBY)
  • DBY Psalm 9:10 And they that know thy name will confide in thee; for thou, Jehovah, hast not forsaken them that seek thee. (Psa 9:10 DBY)
  • DBY Psalm 56:4 In God will I praise his word, in God I put my confidence: I will not fear; what can flesh do unto me? (Psa 56:4 DBY)
  • DBY Psalm 56:11 In God have I put my confidence: I will not fear; what can man do unto me? (Psa 56:11 DBY)
  • It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. 9 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes. (Psa 118:8-9 KJV)
  • DBY Psalm 146:3 Put not confidence in nobles, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation. (Psa 146:3 DBY)
  • DBY Proverbs 3:5 Confide in Jehovah with all thy heart, and lean not unto thine own intelligence; (Pro 3:5 DBY)
  • DBY Proverbs 29:25 The fear of man bringeth a snare; but whoso putteth his confidence in Jehovah is protected. (Pro 29:25 DBY)

Now we’re not so cold-hearted as to ignore the fact that some of you who are listening to this feed or reading this blog may be personally affected by this mess. If you are affected, our hearts and prayers go out to you. I would ask if you are so inclined, send us your prayer request and we’ll post it and expose it to fellow believers who can join in prayer and move heaven to meet your needs. Certainly, if you don’t feel comfortable posting your name, simply provide us your initials and we’ll do what we can. And this applies to any prayer requests you may have.

Here are a couple interesting news items for consideration:

Check out the article via the link http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/nov/13/bill-would-outlaw-us-dollar-russia/. In this interesting article, a Russian politician is aggressively addressing the current state of the United States’ financial health. The Washington Times reported that a Russian lawmaker wants to outlaw the U.S. dollar and he likens the U.S. economy and the dollar to that of a Ponzi scheme. This same lawmaker is touting what he believes to be the imminent collapse of the U.S. economy and sites concerns for the Russian economy if actions aren’t taken to distance the two economies from one another. “If the U.S. national debt continues to grow, the collapse of the dollar system will take place in 2017,” said Mr. Degtyarev, a member of the nationalist Liberal Democrat Party who lost in Moscow’s recent mayoral election. “The countries that will suffer the most will be those that have failed to wean themselves off their dependence on the dollar in time. In light of this, the fact that confidence in the dollar is growing among Russian citizens is extremely dangerous.”

Granted, the likelihood that such a ban on the U.S. dollar will occur is minimal at best, but this is just one more problem with perceptions that the United States government must contend with.

Lastly, one of the most touching and ominous stories to surface this past week had to do with North Korea and that government’s crackdown on dissidents; or better, those whom the government deems as dissidents. Reference the article via the link http://shar.es/8tgGZ. This brief article reports that 80 people were summarily executed by the North Korean government for crimes that included: watching South Korean movies, dealing in pornography, and yes–owning or possessing a Bible. Possessing a Bible Saints in Training! If this isn’t a wake-up call to us in the West that the times ahead are not for the faint of heart, then I don’t know what is. Clearly, we here in the United States and in Europe are blessed to have a moderate degree of religious freedom. Granted, those freedoms are slowing dwindling almost daily. Earlier this year we learned that the U.S. government–specifically the military was briefing its soldiers that mainstream Christians and associated organizations should be considered terrorist groups. There is some indication that protocols are in place to address the perceived mainstream Christian threat for the near future.

We’ll certainly get more into this in the coming days. Suffice to say, the true Believer in Messiah will face persecution and even martyrdom in the future. The long-awaited rapture of the church that fundamental churchianity teaches is not as one would perceive it to be, especially if one were to do a thorough study of the Book of Revelation. Unlike some teachings, the Book of Revelation is not an impossible book to understand. It does require a solid grasp of the Feast of the Lord as explained in the Torah and their representative prophetic shadow pictures, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, and to some extent some solid teaching and guidance by a true Messianic teacher who can provide a clear overview of the background that is needed to fully understand the prophecies.

Post Sabbath Perceptions

As is our weekly practice, we spent our Sabbath this past week in holy convocation with the House of Israel and Pastor Arthur Bailey and Shabbat Night Live with Michael Rood. Needless to say, we were blessed with the teachings derived from both segments.

Arthur Bailey’s message was entitled: “And you shall love the Lord…” You can find this teaching at arthurbaileyministries.com/tv and find it under the teaching section dated November 16, 2013. The primary perception moments I took away from this teaching–and I would encourage you to tune in and listen/watch the teaching yourself–were as follows:

The Believer in Messiah must discern whether their belief systems are derived from Scripture or from denominational doctrine. Pastor Bailey asserted, and I fully agree having personally experienced this, was that believers rarely develop their belief systems from honest, diligent study. The fact of the matter is that the average Christian is Biblically illiterate and or Biblically ignorant. The reasons for this are varied, but essentially, the average self-professing Christian is told what he or she is to believe and understand in order to be that good Baptist, Lutheran, Pentecostal, Catholic, etc. In fact, denominations create rules around applicable Biblical teaching to such an extent that the rules supersede what is Biblically supported. Case in point is the concept of keeping the law versus not keeping the law. We’ll save that for another day.

Another point that Pastor Bailey made that I think is really important is this: the Apostle Paul is NOT Jesus Christ. This point can not be repeated enough. The bulk of the Christian faith and churchianity as a whole is built upon the Letters of Paul and Westernized, Greek-oriented perspectives and mindset. Little if any point of order is based upon the Master’s or the Father’s teachings and commands. The whole of Scripture is built upon Hebrew Roots and more often than not, Greek and Hebrew perspectives and concepts do not translate well. Additionally, most of the Apostle’s instructions to the churches and to his mentees were based upon his opinion. Apostolic opinion by nature can not supersede the teachings of Yeshua nor the Law nor the prophets. Now that’s not to say that the Apostle Paul was not sent by the Master to bring the Gentile nations to salvation through the Master’s sacrifice.Indeed, Paul was a brilliant Torah scholar who was a mighty disciple of Yeshua who did more to bring the Gentiles to the knowledge of the Kingdom of God and the Master’s righteousness than any other man in history. But the True Believer must put everything into perspective: Yehovah is head over Yeshua who was head over Paul.

As it relates to Paul’s opinion, here’s a case in point: Paul’s position on women and the church–KJV 1 Timothy 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. (1Ti 2:12 KJV) Many Christian denominations teach that women should not teach nor preach in the church. Consequently, you will find very few women today holding any leadership positions in the church, especially in the realm of preaching and teaching with the exception of women like Joyce Meyers. But the True Believer in Messiah must be careful to pay close attention to Paul’s words and the context of his writings as well as the specific problems and situations he was addressing in his writings. How many Christian churches have taken the writings of Paul at face value without committing the writings to careful scrutiny and exegesis only to produce teachings and doctrines that are not Biblically sound?

The bulk of Pastor Bailey’s message centered upon Mark 12:28-34: CJB Mark 12:28 One of the Torah-teachers came up and heard them engaged in this discussion. Seeing that Yeshua answered them well, he asked him, “Which is the most important mitzvah of them all?” 29 Yeshua answered, “The most important is, ‘Sh’ma Yisra’el, ADONAI Eloheinu, ADONAI echad [Hear, O Isra’el, the LORD our God, the LORD is one], 30 and you are to love ADONAI your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your understanding and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘You are to love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other mitzvah greater than these.” 32 The Torah-teacher said to him, “Well said, Rabbi; you speak the truth when you say that he is one, and that there is no other besides him; 33 and that loving him with all one’s heart, understanding and strength, and loving one’s neighbor as oneself, mean more than all the burnt offerings and sacrifices.” 34 When Yeshua saw that he responded sensibly, he said to him, “You are not far from the Kingdom of God.” And after that, no one dared put to him another sh’eilah. (Mar 12:28 CJB)

Essentially, the foremost commandment of the Law has to do with loving the Creator with all our heart, soul, understanding, and strength. Secondarily, the True Believer is to love his or her neighbor as they love themselves. Churchianity teaches that the Master’s sacrifice on the cross eliminated the requirement for the Believer to follow the Torah. All that remains then for the mainstream Christian is the summation or remnants of the law which stipulates that he or she love God and one another. The problem with this anemic line of reasoning, as Pastor Bailey so aptly taught, is there is absolutely NO explanation as to what or how loving both God and neighbor is supposed to work or look like. One man’s definition of love may certainly differ from another’s ideas of love. Is love based upon one’s culture or the secular world’s definition of love? Is love a feeling or an action? If an action, what composes or makes up that action? Should the Father’s definition of love have any place or influence over our personal definitions of love? Needless to say, there will be those who possess unsavory intentions who’s understanding of love may be perverted or off-color and whose resulting actions completely nullify this all encompassing command. The only way the Believer is to understand and exercise true love for both the Father and neighbor is via the Torah. Failure to obey and understand love under the auspices of Torah is setting the would-be Believer for failure in meeting the tenets of Yeshua’s commandments.

Shabbat Night Live with Michael Rood was equally enlightening. I say enlightening because I mentioned earlier last week that I’ve been experiencing a heaviness that I’ve not felt before and I attribute it to the evil and spiritual depression that seems to be ongoing in our world today. Michael’s text was taken from Revelation 6:7&8 CJB Revelation 6:7 When he broke the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living being say, “Go!” 8 I looked, and there in front of me was a pallid, sickly-looking horse. Its rider’s name was Death, and Sh’ol followed behind him. They were given authority to kill one-quarter of the world by war, by famine, by plagues and with the wild animals of the earth. (Rev 6:7 CJB)

At this point in the book, the seals are being stripped from the scroll that contains the title-deed to this world that is currently being ruled by satan. The results of stripping the 4th seal from the scroll is most ominous. What results is Death–this of course gets my attention given my line of work–Death as resulting from four means: (1) the sword or in the Greek=rhomphaia; reference Zechariah 5:1-11; 6:1,2 which is referring to death via war; (2) hunger or in the Greek=limos, which is death via worldwide famine; (3) simply death or in the Greek=thanatos, which is referring to death via mass exterminations; and lastly (4) beast of the earth or in Greek=therion, which is referring to death probably via biological warfare.

So much is going on in our world today, at levels of government and commerce that we are not privy to. Much of what is going on is being driven and supervised by the King of this World, hasatan or satan or the devil. There is mounting evidence that Satan is currently using a small number of people with power that he has granted them to run this world. Two-years ago, if you said to me that our world was being run by the Illuminati, I would have laughed at you and counted you a foul who was given to conspiracy theories. However, in the last year or so, my studies in the Book of Revelations, the teachings of respected Messianic teachers and scholars, my careful reading of the news feeds, and listening to various experts of politics, government, military, commerce and law, have led me to the conclusion that a ruling class of satanically inspired elitists are controlling the governments, commerce and society of every nation on this planet. These globalists, if you will, have plans within plans for the future of this planet. Consequently, one of the stated problems facing the ruling elite seems to be the world population, currently just over 6.5 billion souls. The globalists, under the guise of the United Nations, international banking institutions, and the military-industrial entities around the world, have suggested that the population of this world must be reduced if any semblance of a healthy and productive life for man is to be realized. Thus, it would seem that there are plans in place to accomplish just that. How will this be accomplished? Well, it is not entirely clear, but we do know that certain nations and even global mega-companies have the ability to manipulate the weather. Consequently, if it is determined by the powers to be that one area of the world is to be deprived of rain for crops, then drought conditions can be ordered. If on the other hand the powers to be, say, want to eliminate a rather large segment of a populations, it is conceivable that a typhoon or hurricane or tornadoes can be easily ordered. What about the food supply. Living in the 21st century, one would expect given the level of knowledge and technological know how, that we should have no concerns over proper food production and the elimination of certain illnesses. Yet, we seem to have more illnesses than at anytime in history. Our food supply is tainted with genetically modified organisms which are slowly but surely replacing what once was real food. Our animals are being fed things that they aren’t suppose to consume while being injected with hormones that over time can be fatal to humans if consumed in large amounts and over a long period of time. Then there’s our water supply, where in most metropolitan areas it is intentionally tainted with fluoride, which is known to be harmful to man; however, the government chooses to tell its citizens that the introduction of fluoride in their water is to protect them from tooth decay and not to worry because the amount of fluoride in the water is harmless to humans.

Yes, our governments are becoming more and more hostile towards its citizens and these entities are not afraid to unleash the power of their law enforcement and military agencies upon their own people. Stories about the Department of Homeland Security amassing large caches of weapons and ammunition for no stated purposes is certainly alarming but then the mainstream media simply gives such stories complimentary passes.

We can go on, but the truth is out there and maybe, just maybe, the Bible has held these truths all along and we have overlooked them because of doctrines like the Christian rapture. Why should the Christian worry about such things when we he has been convinced by their denomination that Jesus is returning to snatch us out of this world and take us to heaven where we will gaze upon Jesus’ glory and sing in the angelic choir for all eternity? The True Believer of Messiah must be cognizant of what the enemy has up his sleeve. Storm clouds are indeed gathering on the horizon and we must be ready to weather the storm. The Apostle Paul encourages us as follows: CJB 1 Corinthians 9:24 Don’t you know that in a race all the runners compete, but only one wins the prize? So then, run to win! (1Co 9:24 CJB) We can’t hide behind such erroneous beliefs as the Christian rapture doctrine, thinking that all will be fine and dandy if you’ve said the sinner’s prayer and have accepted Jesus in your heart as your Lord and Savior. Indeed, at the rate most self-professing Christians are going in their walks with the Master, the average Christian just may not have too much to worry about when the tribulation, persecutions and executions hit. The powers to be will find such Christians of no consequence and will simply ignore them. I do not wish to be counted as one who is of “no consequence” or of little value to the Kingdom. I love life and do not wish to die. However, I want my life in Messiah to count for something. How about you? Are you on board with any of this?

I’d love to hear from you. Please, take a few minutes and drop us a line. We’ve made it so convenient for you. If you are accessing our site on the web, at the end of this post, you will find a nifty comment and feedback box. Simply fill that bad boy out. We also have a “speak pipe” feature for those of you who would prefer to leave a voice comment or feedback. If we are going to become a Messianic network and provide one another the support we so vitally need, then we must remain in dialogue and prayer.

I hope you got something out of this “it’s not as you perceive” episode. I’ve enjoyed bringing this to you and I look forward to the next episode. Until then, be most blessed fellow Saints in Training.
